30 years of IT for retail and logistics

OSP’s success story begins in 1991 in Dresden, when it was set up as a software partner to "Otto Versand". Since then, the company has grown continuously and has developed from an internal IT service provider for the Otto Group to an independent company – with its own software products, holistic advice and a broad service portfolio relating to IT for retail and logistics. Throughout 30 years, one thing has remained constant: our passion for IT.

From an IT service provider for the Otto Group to an expert in omnichannel commerce

1991 – Founded in Dresden 
OSP launched in 1991 as Otto Software Partner, acting as an IT service provider to the Otto Group in Dresden with 12 employees.

1993 – First international projects
In its initial years, OSP became an increasingly in-demand partner for the overseas activities of the Otto Group, initially in the UK and Hungary, for example, and later in India and Russia.

1996 – Software for the Otto Group
In the mid-nineties, OSP completed numerous successful IT projects for various subsidiaries within the Group. Among other things, the IT service provider developed a new goods management system for Sportcheck, launched a new client call centre at OTTO, and actively supported the beginnings of e-commerce with the Otto Group’s first steps into online retail.

1997 – Omnichannel software MOVEX is born
The idea for a system developed in-house gradually took shape: MOVEX was launched, initially under the name AMOS, as software for order management and logistics in the Asian market. At the same time, an OSP team was set up in Taiwan.

1999 – A new home
Around 60 IT experts were now working for OSP, so a move to the modern World Trade Center Dresden set us up for further growth.

2005 – Growth years
The years between 2005 and 2010 were ones of continual growth and numerous projects for the development of new software architectures for the Otto Group. OSP also supported OTTO’s market launch in Russia and the client business of Hermes Fulfilment GmbH.

2009 – OSP becomes GTP
With GroupTechnologyPartner GmbH (GTP), the Otto Group created a central IT division, which OSP became part of for a while.

2011 – OSP in Franconia
The foundation of a second office in Burgkunstadt, later Altenkunstadt, meant OSP was now also represented in southern Germany.

2013 – Return to independence
OSP became independent once again under the name “Otto Group Solution Provider” and now also began operations in the external market.

2016 – OSP in Hamburg and a second location in Asia
With the foundation of OSP in Hamburg, the portfolio was expanded to include additional IT services. OSP is now also active in mobile commerce. Furthermore, a second Asian location was opened in Bangkok.  

2018 – Opening of Madrid office
With the foundation of a further international location in Madrid, OSP created the possibility of outsourcing IT projects to the nearshore market of Spain.

2021 - OSP celebrates anniversary
Started in 1991 with twelve employees, 30 years, five locations and 350 employees later OSP has established itself as an IT specialist for omnichannel commerce, managed countless projects and built up expert knowledge in retail and logistics.
